There are 69,396 practicing lawyers in the State of Florida but only 86 are Board Certified Lawyers in Elder Law and 342 Board Certified Wills, Trusts, Estate Lawyers.

Elder law refers to the laws especially affecting the elderly.  Seniors and the elderly are faced with difficult, end-of-life decisions involving advanced directives, estate planning, and long-term care.  This area of law focuses on wills, trusts, tax issues, Social Security benefits, Medicare and Medicaid coverage, nursing-home care, durable powers of attorney, medical directives, and other legal matters of particular concern such as elder abuse law.

Lawyers will want to provide to their prospective clients a publication that summarizes the many areas where they may require specialized legal assistance.  The Florida Senior Legal Guide can support the conversation between client and their attorney by educating the senior or their family in the subject areas of primary concern, thereby enabling a thorough discussion of all areas of concern.  Educating the client may lead to a more comprehensive life plan and the legal documents required to support the client's desires.
